Welcome to The Football Notebook, the place where I spend approximately 48 consecutive hours watching football and then somehow have the audacity to complain that the weekend went by too fast. I’m beginning to think there might be a correlation there, but further research is needed.

There was certainly plenty to occupy those 48 hours. Oklahoma State lost to Tulsa one week and beat Oregon the next, Texas was 15 minutes away from being pronounced dead before Arch Manning apparently remembered he was Arch Manning and the Dallas Cowboys needed exactly one game to make several months of optimism feel incredibly stupid. Manchester United got screwed in a derby it wasn’t particularly good in anyway, Tottenham is still searching for the location of the goal and Hull City was, for one glorious moment, the best team in England.

There’s a lot to discuss. Let’s open the notebook.
