Welcome to The Football Notebook, the place where I spew all my thoughts about football and everybody just sits back and listens.

One of the most loaded notebooks of all time is here (it’s long, y’all). Below is a compendium of pretty much all the major thoughts I had about football this weekend. From Camp Nou to Orlando, there was a lot rattling around my head over the last several days, and I’ve decided that all of it deserves your attention. Whether any of it actually deserves that attention is a different matter.

Since this iteration of the notebook is girthier than a pig that just had a four-course meal on a Disney cruise — I sure hope the pig didn’t order the scrambled eggs — there will be separate posts coming out throughout the week highlighting individual sections. There will also be additional pieces that were left on the cutting room floor that should appear in your inboxes at some point over the next several days as well. I’ve been doing this for several weeks now and have been pleased to discover that nobody outright hates it! Good deal.

And for those wondering, no, there won’t be anything about Manchester United and Michael Carrick in this notebook. I have a feeling I’ll be writing and talking about that disaster again very, very soon, and I would rather not ruin an enjoyable occasion by subjecting myself to more Manchester United discourse.

With that out of the way, we have plenty to discuss. Let’s open the notebook.
