The Journey Begins
Welcome to SethStack!
Last November, I wrote a long piece about the Texas Rangers winning their first World Series and what it meant to me, my family, and this community. I published that right here on SubStack with the intention of creating more written content relating to my relationship with sports, but that didn’t come to pass. Life got in the way: I got engaged to my high school sweetheart; my college courses kept me busy; I traveled multiple times; and then I got married.
As the Rangers missed out on the postseason, relinquishing the chance to defend their title, I began reminiscing about how fun it was to write that piece. I love sports so much, and to have an outlet like that to express the raw emotions that I felt in the days following what was then the best day of my life (I believe I’m contractually obligated to say that my wedding is the best day of my life now) was a dream opportunity.
If you know me at all, you’d know that I can talk anyone’s ear off about sports. Whether it’s baseball, football, the Olympics, or calcio storico (look it up; it’s absolutely worth your time), I have a lot of thoughts and opinions. Usually, my friends and family catch the brunt of my sports analysis. I don’t know if they’re tired of it (I’m sure they’d tell me they’re not), but I’d like another outlet for my extensive thoughts about sports and the surrounding world. That’s where this SubStack comes back into play.
So, what’s the deal? Well, I’ll be posting here about three to four times a week talking about the sports (and possibly other things) that I love. In the fall it’ll mostly be college football and postseason baseball. Once the winter rolls around I’ll start diving into basketball, hockey, and the NFL. I’m also a movie lover, so some of that might be sprinkled in there as well.
All of this content will be free for anybody who wishes to subscribe to this SubStack. It’ll go straight into your inbox after it’s posted. Maybe one day I’ll put stuff behind a paywall, but I don’t think I’ve garnered enough of a reputation to charge people for my thoughts and opinions.
I’m a busy college student (who is graduating soon, thank you Lord), and I also am juggling several other jobs on the side. Needless to say, I have a lot of stuff I’m tied up in, but I’m determined to get this going and keep it running for as long as I can. I’m extremely excited about the proposition of sharing my thoughts with you. Trust me; it’s going to be a blast.
I’ll have my first several pieces published here soon. Spoiler alert, it’ll be about baseball and college football. I hope you’re as excited as I am, and I look forward to this journey with all of you. In the meantime, go read those 2,000 words about the Texas Rangers that I wrote last year. I’m super proud of it.
