The Kickoff: NFL Week 4 Preview, CFB Week 5 Predictions & Manchester City Fallout

There’s so much football this weekend it’s sort of insane.

On today’s episode of The Kickoff, Seth Dowdle talks about how Manchester City’s financial scandal has reached another major stage after the Premier League published the Independent Commission’s findings, giving us our clearest look yet at what the club was actually found guilty of doing. On this episode of The Kickoff, Seth Dowdle breaks down the sham sponsorship agreements, hidden costs and financial arrangements that the commission says artificially inflated Manchester City’s revenue and reduced its expenses by more than £900 million. We also get into City’s failure to cooperate with the investigation, what the findings mean for the looming sanctions process and why the relationship between Manchester City’s ownership, Abu Dhabi and the British government continues to make an already unprecedented situation even more complicated.

Then, somehow, there is an entire weekend of football to preview. NFL Week 4 brings Rams-Eagles, Chiefs-Raiders, Broncos-49ers, Cowboys-Texans, Jaguars-Bengals, Patriots-Bills and every other game across the league. Can the Raiders prove their 3-0 start is real against Patrick Mahomes? Are the Eagles and Rams already facing an identity crisis? Can Houston save its season against Dallas? And are the Miami Dolphins actually staring at the possibility of going winless?

College football is a little lighter this weekend, but there are still plenty of fascinating games. Alabama travels to Starkville for a suddenly meaningful matchup with undefeated Mississippi State, Ohio State walks into Kinnick Stadium against Iowa, Miami gets a chance to underline just how far Clemson has fallen and TCU reaches DEFCON 1 against No. 10 BYU. Plus, Seth’s Politics Minute makes its triumphant return with an update on the Protect College Sports Act.

Finally, we circle back to soccer for the UEFA Nations League and the beginning of the USMNT’s road toward the 2030 World Cup. Eight teenagers debuted against Peru, Cavan Sullivan is finally here, Julian Hall keeps scoring and Mauricio Pochettino is using these early friendlies to figure out which young players could become part of the next generation. Then Mexico awaits, and friendly or not, that one always means a little bit more.
