Champions League nights are back, and Matchday 2 gave us plenty to talk about.
Seth Dowdle recaps a wild two days in Europe, beginning with PSG’s statement 4-2 win over Manchester City and the latest chapter of Real Madrid’s seemingly endless Champions League magic. Roma led 3-1 in the 80th minute before Madrid somehow scored three times in eight minutes and walked out of Rome with a 4-3 victory. Because of course they did.
Elsewhere, Manchester United’s problems continued against Atletico Madrid, Club Brugge stunned Inter at the San Siro and Viking produced one of the results of the week against Bayern Munich. Arsenal cruised past Lille, Bodo/Glimt earned a deserved win over Borussia Dortmund and Liverpool scored six in Austria while still providing a few reasons to worry about its defense.
Then there’s Barcelona. A 4-1 win at Galatasaray continued an outstanding start to the season and raised a much bigger question: Is this the best Barcelona team we’ve seen in a decade?
The show also takes an early look at the Champions League table before previewing another loaded European slate next week, including PSG-Barcelona, Bayern-Arsenal and Como welcoming Manchester United to Lake Como. Finally, we head over to the Europa League for a quick recap of the biggest results, including another memorable European night for Sunderland and Bournemouth continuing its perfect start.
