The Saturday Watchlist: 10-4-2025
This week’s slate isn’t as packed, but there’s still room for the usual Saturday chaos.
Last Saturday was madness. There was so much appointment-viewing action happening all at once that it was nearly impossible to keep up. By the time the day finally wrapped, I felt out of breath from all the chaos.
Today? Not quite at that level. There are a few games worth stopping everything for, but otherwise the slate’s pretty thin—especially early.
But that’s the beauty of college football: when you least expect it, the sport blindsides you with something outrageous. As I always say, I don’t know where the surprise is coming from—it’s a surprise, after all—but if you stick to the games listed below, you won’t miss it when it happens. Make sense?

If a matchup’s not listed here, I don’t plan on watching it live. That doesn’t mean I won’t pivot if something wild happens elsewhere, but these are the games that will absolutely be on my screens all day long.

Early Window
Primary Screen: No. 11 Iowa State at Cincinnati – 11 a.m. – ESPN2
Secondary Screen: Clemson at North Carolina – 11 a.m. – ESPN
Tertiary Screen: Air Force at Navy – 11 a.m. – CBS
Also worth tracking:
Kentucky at No. 15 Georgia – 11 a.m. – ABC
Kansas State at Baylor – 11 a.m. – ESPN+
When Iowa State–Cincinnati is the “headliner,” you know the slate’s a little light. Sorry, folks—this is the best we’ve got.
Iowa State’s been living in “prove it” mode all season, and the trip to Cincinnati won’t change that. Meanwhile, if you want to witness one of the saddest spectacles imaginable, flip over to ESPN for Clemson–UNC. Frankly, that game belongs on Cartoon Network. And if you love America and support the troops, you’re in luck: Air Force and Navy clash in what may be the only federal government activity still running on schedule.
Afternoon Window
Primary Screen: No. 9 Vanderbilt at No. 14 Alabama – 2:30 p.m. – ABC
Secondary Screen: No. 19 Texas at Florida – 2:30 p.m. – ESPN
Tertiary Screen: No. 18 Virginia at Louisville – 2:30 p.m. – ESPN2
Also worth tracking:
Boise State at Notre Dame – 2:30 p.m. – NBC
Here’s where things finally heat up. Last year, Alabama–Vanderbilt barely registered as a storyline. This year, it’s one of the main events. What a world we live in.
Texas and Florida square off in what could be one of the ugliest offensive displays of the year—whichever team’s offense wakes up first probably wins. And keep an eye on Virginia: the Cavaliers have been rolling, but Louisville on the road has “letdown game” written all over it.
Evening Window
Primary Screen: No. 1 Miami at No. 13 Florida State – 6:30 p.m. – ABC
Secondary Screen: Colorado at TCU – 6:30 p.m. – FOX
Tertiary Screen: No. 22 Mississippi State at No. 5 Texas A&M – 6:30 p.m. – SEC Network
Also worth tracking:
No. 8 Texas Tech at Houston – 6 p.m. – ESPN
Minnesota at No. 3 Ohio State – 6:30 p.m. – NBC
The night slate is loaded. Miami–Florida State is the big-ticket showdown, but the undercard in Texas has plenty of juice.
TCU, fresh off a gut-wrenching loss last Friday, gets another crack at Deion Sanders and Colorado. Meanwhile, Texas A&M has been red hot, but Mississippi State is lurking as a potential spoiler.
Late Window
Primary Screen: Duke at California – 9:30 p.m. – ESPN
Secondary Screen: Nevada at Fresno State – 9:30 p.m. – CBS Sports Network
With the Pac-12 gone, the late-night chaos that used to define Saturdays is mostly gone too. Tonight, the only FBS games kicking after 9 p.m. are Duke–Cal (still feels weird calling that an ACC matchup) and Nevada–Fresno State. Neither jumps off the page, but it’s late-night college football, which means chaos is basically guaranteed.
