The matchup had everything a sports fan could want from a playoff atmosphere: the crowd was amped, the football was fun, and the final result felt earned.
In the end, Alabama — which has endured an up-and-down season that’s been more down than up in recent weeks — stormed back from a 17-point deficit to claim a 34-24 victory over the Sooners. With the win, the Crimson Tide advance to the Rose Bowl (presented by Prudential, which is gross, if you ask me. Remember when the sanctity of the sport was protected from such ludicrous sponsors? Of course, the Pop-Tarts Bowl is an exception here. Anyway, sigh.) to face the No. 1-seeded Indiana Hoosiers.
